A traffic accident in Bazman, Iranshahr County, claimed the lives of two Baloch Sukhtbars and another Baloch citizen.
According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, a collision between two Sukhtbari vehicles, a Pride and a Peugeot 405, in Bazman, Iranshahr, resulted in a fire that killed at least three individuals.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Hossein Sarhadi, 19, son of Esmail, and Yousef Sarhadi, 18, both residents of Rigan, and Hatam Kadkhodaei, 53, a retired teacher from the village of Gharibabad in Sarbaz County, who was living in Chabahar.
Reports indicate that the two vehicles caught fire after colliding, and all three occupants perished in the flames.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
