A Baloch citizen, who had previously been arrested on political charges, was detained along with seven others by the Intelligence Department of Iranshahr.
According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, June 14, 2024, a Baloch citizen and former political prisoner in the city of Iranshahr, along with seven other citizens, were arrested by military forces without presenting a judicial warrant and were taken to the detention center of the Intelligence Department of this city.
The identity of this citizen, is “Abdolraouf Barani,” 34 years old, married with two children, resident of the village of Kuharan in the Sorkur area of Sarbaz County.
The identities of the other seven citizens accompanying Abdolraouf are not known at the time of this report.
Local sources stated: “After two days of detention, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, the intelligence forces of the Revolutionary Guards transferred Abdolraouf from the detention center to the Revolutionary Guards’ Intelligence detention center in Zahedan.”
One of his relatives added: “Four of his companions have been released, and three others are in detention in Iranshahr, while Abdolraouf has been transferred to Zahedan. Despite the family’s inquiries, no clear reason has been given for his arrest and transfer to Zahedan.”
It is noteworthy that Abdolraouf was arrested in July 2020 in Sarbaz County on political charges by the intelligence forces of the Revolutionary Guards and was released a few months later.
The charges against these citizens and their whereabouts are unknown at the time of this report.
