Gilan: Temporary Release of Two Gilaki Women Activists After Acceptance of Retrial

Two women’s rights activists from Gilan, Zahra and Zohreh Dadras, have been temporarily released from prison following the Supreme Court’s acceptance of their request for a retrial.

According to Kolbarews, Zahra and Zohreh Dadras were temporarily freed after the Supreme Court approved the retrial. This decision came after legal efforts by their lawyers: Zahra Minooee, Mohammad-Ali Kamfirouzi, and Abolfazl Ghorbani.

Zohreh Dadras had previously been sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison on charges of “forming a group with the intent to disrupt national security” and “gathering and colluding.” Zahra Dadras had been sentenced to 6 years, 1 month, and 17 days for “membership in a group” and “gathering and colluding.”

With the acceptance of the retrial, their case has been referred to one of the branches of the Gilan Province Court of Appeals for reconsideration, and new hearings are expected to take place in the future.
