According to Kolbarnews, a boat carrying refugees, mostly from Kurdistan, set sail from the coast of Bodrum, Turkey, heading towards international waters and Italy on Monday, June 10, 2024. After three days, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, the boat encountered an accident and sank near the coast of Italy.
Italian police arrived at the scene four days later, on Monday, June 17, 2024, and managed to rescue only 10 of the refugees. In this tragic incident, at least 60 out of the 70 refugees on the boat lost their lives.
