Dehgolan: Azad Abbasi Arrested to Serve Prison Sentence

Azad Abbasi, a civil activist and Kurdish language instructor, has been arrested to serve his prison sentence.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, Azad Abbasi, a civil activist and Kurdish language instructor, was arrested after being summoned to the Sentence Enforcement Branch of the Qorveh Court and transferred to the city’s central prison to serve a two-year prison sentence.

Mr. Abbasi was initially detained by security forces in February 2024 and was later sentenced by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Dehgolan to one year in prison for “propaganda against the regime” and two years in prison for “insulting the leader.” Under the law, the most severe penalty—two years in prison—will be enforced.
