Dashtyari: The death of a Baluch child due to falling into a canal “Hootak”

A 6-year-old Baluch child lost his life due to drowning in a Hootak.

According to Kolbarnews, citing Baluch sources, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, a Baluch child in the village of Balad Sarkoop, located in Dashtyari County, fell into the canal of this village while playing and lost his life.

The identity of this child, “Mohammad Saleh Afrash,” 6 years old, son of Mohsen, resident of the village of Balad Sarkoop, has been mentioned.

Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.
According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
