Dashtyari: Death of a Baloch Child Due to Falling into a Water Pit

A young Baloch child, lost her life after falling into a “Hootag” (a water pit) in the Pirsoharab district of Dashtyari county.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, a Baloch child drowned and died after falling into a Hootak in the village of Kuh Dim, a part of the Pirsoharab district in Dashtyari county. 

The identity of this Baloch child has been reported as Helina Jadgal, daughter of Mansour, from the village of Benaru Gholam Mohammad Bazaar in Dashtyari county.

This report states that the child was playing around the Hootak when she fell into the water and lost her life.

Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.

According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
