An 11-year-old Baloch child in Dashtyari County drowned and lost her life after falling into a hotak (water pit).
According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, a Baloch child lost her life after falling into a hootak.
The identity of this child, “Yesna Sheikh”, 11 years old, child of Abdulmajid, from the village of Rank in the Polan district of Dashtyari County, has been provided.
According to this report, Yesna went out of the house for recreation and, due to the slippery ground near the hootak, fell into it and lost her life due to drowning.
Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.
According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
