A 12-year-old Baloch child lost her life due to drowning in a pond in Dashtyari County.
According to Kolbarnews on Friday, April 26, 2024, a 12-year-old girl from the village of Shahbikzehi, in the outskirts of Dashtyari County, lost her life due to drowning after falling into a pond.
The identity of this child, “Asma Toromideh (Jadgal)”, 12 years old, daughter of Seyyed Mohammad, a third-grade student, and resident of the Shahbikzehi village, Dashtyari County.
According to the report, yesterday, Asma went to the village pond to wash clothes, which was near her home. Unfortunately, she fell into the pond and drowned, resulting in the loss of her life.
Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.
According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
