Dashtyari: Assault and Arrest of a Baloch Sukhtbar by Regime Forces

A Baloch Sukhtbar was violently assaulted and arrested by border forces in Nigor, Dashtyari.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, military forces from the Nigor border station, located in Dashtyari County, chased a Land Cruiser Sukhtbar in the border area of Rimdan. After stopping the vehicle, they severely beat the Sukhtbar before arresting him.

As of the time of reporting, the identity of the Baloch Sukhtbar remains unknown.

The report states that the Nigor border forces, under the command of Colonel (last name) “Miri” from Zabol, pursued the Land Cruiser Sukhtbari, stopped it, and brutally assaulted the driver. Following the arrest, the driver was transferred to the command center of the border station.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to undertake due to the lack of suitable and sustainable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, road accidents, and vehicle fires, while 80 others were injured in these incidents, including 9 children.
