Dashtyari; An 8-Year-Old Baloch Child died in a drowning accident

An 8-year-old Baloch child tragically lost his life after falling into a Hootak in Dashtiyari County.

According to Kolbarnews, yesterday, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, unfortunately, Haroun Baloch, an 8-year-old child, from the village of Golestan in Dashtyari County, lost his life due to falling into a water pit.

Haroun, a second-grade elementary school student and one of the talented students in the village, was playing near the Hootak when one of his belongings fell into the water. 

While trying to retrieve the item, he got too close to the edge of the Hootak, fell in, and tragically drowned.

Hootak, or hootag, is a dug pit used for storing water, primarily for agricultural purposes, but in recent years, due to the water crisis in Balochistan, people have been using hootak water for drinking and household purposes.

According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, in 2023 alone, a total of 98 cases of child rights violations have been recorded in Balochistan. At least 27 children have been killed, 17 children injured, 3 children have drowned, 38 children have been detained, and tragically, one child bride has been killed by gunshot.
