Chabahar: Strike at Chabahar Petrochemical Plant Due to Unpaid Wages

Workers contracted by Ava Jahanbin Parsian Company at Makran Petrochemical Plant in Chabahar went on strike in protest of three months of unpaid wages.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, workers from Ava Jahanbin Parsian Company at Makran Petrochemical Plant in Chabahar went on strike.

These workers, who are native Baloch contractors, were laid off during the Nowruz holidays and have not received their wages since then.

The protest gathering of the workers was accompanied by the intervention of the petrochemical plant security forces, leading to clashes between the two sides.

It is reported that the petrochemical plant authorities have been indifferent to this strike and have failed to fulfill their promise of wage payment later that afternoon.

So far, no official authority has officially reacted to this issue.

This strike comes at a time when we have witnessed similar labor protests in various parts of Iran in recent months. Workers are increasingly facing issues such as unpaid wages, temporary contracts, and job insecurity.
