Bukan: Mina Soltani, Mother Seeking Justice for Shahriar Mohammadi, Sentenced to Prison and Fine

Mina Soltani, a grieving mother from Bukan, has been sentenced to eight months in prison and fined one million tomans.

According to Kolbarnews, Mina Soltani, the mother of Shahriar Mohammadi who was killed during the Jina uprising in Bukan was convicted by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Bukan on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “appearing in public without a mandatory hijab.”

Milad Mohammadi, Shahriar’s brother, revealed on Instagram that the verdict was verbally communicated to their mother, known as Dayeh Mina, and that the trial was held without her lawyer present. He stated that she was not even given the chance to defend herself.

The court session took place on February 15, 2025, presided over by Judge Mehdi Fakhri.

Mina Soltani-Zare was arrested on August 27, 2024, by security forces in Bukan. She was eventually released on bail on October 1, 2024, pending trial.

Her son, Shahriar Mohammadi, was killed on November 18, 2022, during the Jina uprising in Bukan after being shot.
