Serveh Shiri and Peyman Shiri, two residents of Bukan, have been transferred to Urmia and Bukan prisons, respectively, to serve their sentences.
According to Kolbarnews, the imprisonment sentences for these two Kurdish civil activists, which were issued in November 2024 by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two in Bukan, were carried out on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Serveh Shiri, 22, and her 19-year-old brother, Peyman Shiri, from the village of Taregheh in Bukan County, were arrested by security forces in October 2024 and transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia. They were later released on bail but eventually sentenced to eight months and six months in prison, respectively.
The primary reason for their arrest and conviction was their civil activism. They were accused of “propaganda activities against the regime in favor of a Kurdish opposition party.”
