Bandar Abbas: Two Sukhtbars Killed and Injured by Direct Shooting from Regime Forces

Following the direct shooting by military forces in Bandar Abbas, two Sukhtbars were killed and injured.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, April 22, 2024, officers from the 13th precinct in Bandar Abbas fired at a Sukhtbari vehicle without prior warning. Consequently, one Sukhtbar lost his life due to gunshot wounds, and another individual was severely injured.

The deceased Sukhtbar was identified as “Amir Mohammad Chatre Sahar,” a 20-year-old resident of the Jamal Ahmad area in Bandar Abbas.

The identity of the injured Sukhtbar, reportedly a friend and fellow local resident of Amir Mohammad, is currently unavailable.

According to local sources, “On the evening of Monday, officers from the 13th precinct in Bandar Abbas targeted a passenger Sukhtbari vehicle outside their security perimeter without prior warning. The driver of the vehicle lost his life due to a gunshot wound to the head, and another passenger sustained severe injuries to the neck and chest and was transported to the hospital for treatment.”

Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have resorted to out of lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturning, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars in this profession. According to reports from Baloch activists in 2023, at least 172 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, and 42 others were injured in these incidents, including 11 children
