Bandar Abbas; Public Protests Against the Killing and Injury of Two Sukhtbars from Bandar Abbas

A group of people from Bandar Abbas protested against the killing and injury of two local Sukhtbars.

Today, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, citizens of Bandar Abbas gathered in front of the governor’s office, protesting against the killing and injury of these two young Sukhtbars by the law enforcement forces of the 13th precinct of the city. They chanted slogans such as “We don’t want killer police!” They then entered the governor’s office building, demanding accountability from the authorities.

It is worth mentioning that in the Sistan-Balochistan provinces, hundreds of Baloch citizens are killed and injured annually due to shootings by military forces towards Sukhtbars, and judicial and security institutions do not investigate complainants’ cases or punish guilty military personnel.

On the evening of Monday, April 22, 2024, Security forces from the 13th precinct of Bandar Abbas city fired at a Sukhtbari vehicle without prior warning, resulting in the death of one Sukhtbar, and another being severely injured.

The deceased Sukhtbars identity is reported as “Amir Mohammad Chatr Sahar,” aged 20, from the Jamal Ahmad area of Bandar Abbas city, while no information is available regarding the injured Sukhtbars identity.
