A Baloch Sukhtbar lost his life after military forces directly shot at his vehicle’s tire, causing it to overturn in Bandar Abbas.
According to Kolbarnews, in the early hours of Thursday, November 28, 2024, military forces fired directly at the tire of a Sukhtbari vehicle on the Kolghan-Jalabi road in the Takht district, part of Bandar Abbas County.
The shooting led to the vehicle overturning, resulting in the driver’s death.
The Sukhtbar was identified as Majid Mehranzadeh, 38 years old, son of Mohammad, married, and a resident of Minab.
Reports indicate that around 2:00 AM, military forces attempted to stop a Nissan pickup truck carrying fuel by shooting at its tire. This action caused the vehicle to overturn, and the driver succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the accident.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
