A Baloch Sukhtbar, who was among the first responders to aid flood-affected Baloch citizens, lost his life in a vehicle accident on the Nobandian-Jakigur road.
According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, a Baloch Sukhtbar died in a car accident after his vehicle overturned.
The identity of the Sukhtbar has been confirmed as Murad Baloch, from Hedar, a village in the Jakigur district of Rask County.
Reports indicate that Murad’s vehicle veered off the road and overturned on the Nobandian-Jakigur route, and he succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the accident. Murad was one of the first Sukhtbars to assist flood victims during the floods of 2019 and April 2024.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
